Quick Fix: WordPress failing to update
I’ve actually got a number of updates to get through today, but I’ll start with the quick fix!
For those of you trying to update WordPress and receiving a message similar to:
Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file /tmp/wordpress-3.tmp because No such file or directory in wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 179
It seemed bizarre to me that WordPress has an upload directory but tries to put it in /tmp where it may not have permissions, so to fix this add the following to the bottom of wp-config.php found in the root of your WordPress directory:
define('WP_TEMP_DIR', ABSPATH . 'wp-content/uploads/');
This should solve your permission problems when automatically updating!
SN-Ticketer v1.1 Released
Thanks to the great work of AM (he knows who he is) a couple of critical bugs have been patched in the Service-Now ticketer and with any luck the next version will include some new toys to enhance its capabilities even further. For now though you can get the patched version below:
Nagios Conference 2013 Follow-Up
Now earlier in the year the astute among you will recall I said I was unable to make the 2013 Nagios Conference and instead would post an article that followed on from my previous talk. Originally I had planned it to be a three part series, but in between then and now I’ve been working on something rather exciting that obsoletes large portions of what I had planned to talk about.
Given that I’m not in the business of handing out superseded information I’ve decided that I will be doing a single article next update detailing automating Nagios XI user creation. It was meant to be up today but SNT updates ate my writing time so I might let it slip so I can do it properly.
See you next time!comments powered by Disqus
